September 29, 2008
You’ve seen the title all over the web, but what is a content writer and how can it help you?
If you have a website, online shop or blog or all of the above, you will need content to attract traffic. The content can be products and photos but most importantly content is made up of words. The words will describe your products along with the photos. Content writers will also develop reports, e-books and other products to help promote your business.
Content however, are the words that will not only attract traffic, new customers or interested prospects but, will keep them coming back. The content must be captivating in a sense, where the individual will continue reading and not click away from your site or blog. The content is what will keep your reader interested and continue coming back and telling their friends to visit as well.
Your content will set you apart from the competition and all the many online sites. Having someone write the content for you is also an option. Many individuals can produce the items for their site or perhaps have many ideas but do not know how to bring it about.
Some things to think about when looking for a content writer are:
- Budget – it is important to decide what your budget is when it comes to content work. Knowing your budget will help you determine the type of writer needed and how much work you can contract for.
- What are you looking for – only you know what you need. Are you looking for a ghost writer to writer several articles and market them for you? Are you looking for retainer options? Will you need monthly work? Knowing this in advance will help you choose the correct type of writer.
- What type of content writer do you need – there are many content writers available. There are content writers that write about health, nutrition, parenting, blogging, marketing, etc. Determine the type of writer you need and this will make you choice easier.
- Recommendations – if you are not sure about hiring a particular writer or don’t know where to start looking, ask you friends and colleagues. Word of mouth is the best type of referral system.
- Review portfolios – it is important to view a prospective writer’s portfolio. You will know the type of writing the writer is by their work. Having a portfolio available for you to view is very important and if they do not have one available, keep looking.
- Determine your time frame – good content writers have a very busy schedule. It is important to determine what your project will entail and the time frame you want it accomplished. Many content writers will do Rush projects, but there is also an extra fee attached to the Rush order. Be prepared and schedule your projects accordingly to avoid extra fees.
Most importantly take your time. There are many excellent content writers available. Find one that works great for you and build a great relationship and watch your business flourish.
